Bedside Carafe

Bedside Carafe, $21

New in the shop, this handsome bedside carafe is the kind of everyday beautiful but functional item that I would like to start carrying more of. Don't you agree?

I miss you too

I've found out in the last couple of weeks that it is pretty much impossible to blog without a camera but I think I have a found a solution to this problem that could have me back in photography game by the end of the night. So I'm not just being lazy- I'm working on it. But I do have to say that there are some big things going on in here. Like even if I had a camera right now I wouldn't be sitting around blogging all the live long day anyway.

remember summertime? gaaaaaaaaaaaah.

Don't Forget!

Tomorrow night! Spring Swap! I made us a couple of pretty fancy cakes, so don't forget to bring your prosecco or drink of choice, and a few items of clothing that are just to nice to send to the goodwill. I can assure you that the people that have rsvp'd are fashionable ladies and gentlemen...and you are going to want their stuff, but I get first dibs so deal with it.

I know I have posted this before, but here is hoping that all dress like the people in this video when the swap is over (-gold boobs) (or not).

Hammer time!

Last Friday I took the GO train to Hamilton to experience the Art Crawl on James St and meet with the lovely ladies of White Elephant, Victoire, and The Arthur. It was like a ladies with businesses and blogs summit complete with beer and mexican food.  My intention was to go to Hamilton and research this awesome crawl that Hollie and Jane write about and steal the idea and bring it to the Junction, take a million photos  of all of the beautiful girls and extra beautiful buildings and architecture, and throw it all together to make a rad blog post/guide to the Hammer . But alas it wasn't to be... on the way there my digital camera broke (RIP), my iphone pooped out, and I had brought my Diana mini, but without flash, and it was night time.

After all that things did work out, I got a few good shots on the Diana, and I am going to flat out steal White Elephant's photos to post up here. I also found out that there is such a thing as a SUPER CRAWL. Which is like Art Crawl but the streets are closed and there are bands and stuff. So I will just have to go back for that, and this time I will bring a camera with a flash and charge my phone first.

The ladies of Victoire
Liz from The Arthur and yours truly

and sorry guys but this was seriously the only photo I could find of you together on your blog
This is Hollie and Jane from White Elephant. These ladies are honestly an inspiration, it seems like they are pretty much bff's with most of Hamilton and now they are moving on to southern Ontario.  I promise to come and visit Hamilton again guys.

Here is a little added bonus guide of the essentials for a trip to Hamilton:
  1. Toronto life, just incase you start to forget your roots
  2. Big army bag to keep all of your supplies in
  3. Small small-size bottle of coke to keep energy levels up, but still stay ladylike
  4. Sunchips, because you have to treat yourself on a train ride and they seem healthier than regular chips
  5. Disposable camera incase your other cameras fail you
  6. Peanutbutter cups-see #4
  7. iPhone for catching up on podcasts on the train, and google maps for when you get to the Hammer. Maybe you could make yourself a Hamilton playlist to listen to while you roam the streets?

Porcelain Peanuts

Peanuts $20 per packet
New to the store for the weekend are these beautiful cast porcelain peanuts by local (like 10 doors up Keele St local) designer Alexx Boisjoli. His website states that his company 'rcboisjoli' is 'The Royal Canadian choice for domestic ceramics' so you can see that we are a natural match. And did you see the packaging!?

On a side note, I headed to Hamilton yesterday to meet up with the ladies of White Elephant, Victoire, and The Arthur. This will definitely require it's own post later on when I can develop the film from the night since my digital camera decided to die, as well as the camera on my phone. Thank goodness for Diana Mini is all I have to say.

Here's something to look forward to on a gloomy day like today...

Come one come all! Tell your friends!
(Especially the ones with cute dresses.)
BYOC (bring your old clothing) and pick out some new stuff!
It's gonna be a blast!

P.S. Please feel free (like really free) to bring a bottle of wine and some snacks so we can make this a real party with dancing and new friend making!

Don't forget to RSVP!

Spring Clothing Swap?

Would any of you guys be interested in doing a clothing swap in the next couple of weeks here at the store? I have spring fever, which has resulted in spring cleaning, so now I have bags of clothes that I want to get rid of... they are by no means garbage, I am just fickle. Plus if you do a google image search you get a photo of these cool chicks-and I wouldn't mind looking like them...

Plus we can make it fun! Drinks, potluck perhaps?? I know that I would personally relish a reason to stay out after work and have a few drinks with some cool ladies AND get new clothes.

SO if you are into it, shoot me an email ( ) or leave a comment here.

This is sure to be a good day...

Hilarity starts at 11am sharp here at Russet and Empire.

PS- Rihanna, it's pretty evident that you are NOT the person wearing the pointe shoes in the video.

I went for a stroll this beautiful early spring day in the woods (see all the trees in the background), and I came across an enchanted Polaroid tree. I was able to pluck 3 cameras from it's thorny branches all for your photographic pleasure.  Want to get a party started? Bring a Polaroid! Want to print dirty photos and not have everyone at the Walmart photolab see? POLAROID.

I know this is a dumb post guys, I need a coffee or a drink or something...but the cameras are still cool.
