FREE Lemonade this Saturday

You maaaaaaaaaay think I am a wild woman for doing this, but since most of you are probably already up at your cottages, you lucky so-and-so's, I thought I would do something nice for the rest of us guys stuck here in the city. This was my best idea...homemade lemonade. If you were really smart you would head up to the junction with a friend, and one of you could get an iced tea from Tea Blendz down the street and you could make Arnold Palmers!  I am spending my day off going to china town to buy a million lemons and paper cups, and if you know me you would know that is kind of what I would consider a perfect day.

See you in the Junction on Saturday!

Have a nice weekend

We have lots of new vintage beauties in the shop for the weekend but I forgot my camera of course. Lots of cute ways to arrange flowers from the backyard without having to resort to Ikea! Not that my whole house isn't filled with the stuff.

Shame shame

How is it possible that someone styled this video professionally? As someone with eyes, and ears for that matter,  I am offended by every part of this video. Pink extensions, the bra/jacket/kilt outfit, the whole dumb plotline.  Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.  I know I have been heavy on the videos lately but you guys like it right? Like movie day at school...Oh!! And the 'Britney get in quick' milk facial guy?? He wasn't even a little bit of a babe! I don't even understand what she is suggesting!?  I get the swearing at the beginning, I think its like in grade 8 when you had that tape by 'the offspring' and they said all those curse words all in a row inc. motherfucker, which was a BIG deal if you were a kid, and I guess that is who here audience is...

I think this is my first blog rant...On a more positive note, I have a meeting tonight for something exciting happening in the Junction this summer! Stay tuned.

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to the two dads in my life and to all of the dads out there reading this blog (which is probably none, because I'm pretty sure this is exclusively a ladies club).

I should have written this yesterday to entice you all to come to the shop and buy Father's Day gifts, instead of an hour before the shop closes, but I couldn't get my shit together. Maybe my Dad should have taught me some better business / time management skills...

Vintage Milk Bottles

Glass Milk Bottle $13
This is what they are for! Grab a bunch of pretty weeds or branches from your backyard (or the rail path) and throw them in.  Beautiful Father's Day gift done.

Have you heard this playing in the shop?

I think I listen to it at least once a day at work, and after all this time I find out there is a video?

Archie the Ostrich Jockey

 Ceramic dish $32

Along with the hidden animal tea cups (which are back finally) we received this beautiful petite ceramic catch-all dish by Toronto's own design power-house IMM Living.  I think that you should use it to hold all of the international coins that the laundromat won't accept but you can't just throw out because they make you look well traveled.

Have a lovely weekend everyone! Please come and say hello in the Junction! xoxo R&E

Torontocentric Picnic

Hello dearest blog readers! Looking forward to the weekend? Me too. Although my weekend probably starts when you are heading back to work. So if you see me out drinking on  Monday night curb your judgement! For my weekend I am planning a trip to the island to have a picnic on the beach (which one is the naked one again? cause I don't want that one) and I am taking a friend who is from out of town. I would like to dazzle him with the best food from the city that can be packed in to a picnic basket and I would like to try and make it distinctly Toronto/Canadian. I know that if you are reading this, then you are probably 'on it' when it comes to what's good in the city, so don't be shy and leave me your comments please!
Some ideas that I had that were good in theory but not in practice were smoked meat from Caplansky's  , which is the most delicious and Canadian thing I can think of, but then I thought, maybe it wouldn't travel well and the bread would get all soggy (hurl).
Next on my dream menu was macarons from Nadege, but they will squash in a heartbeat (BUT maybe I could throw them in tupperware!!!)  OK, maybe these are still in.
So those are my ideas... also some sort of cocktail component is always good. I say cocktail because the idea of lugging beer bottles around does appeal to me. Leah suggested soju, but she is also a wild woman so by default I am not taking her suggestion. Maybe a couple of cans of Williams Cider? Still heavy but somehow classier than cans of beer right?  What else do you bring to a picnic? I ordered some polaroid film from the impossible project and I am 'borrowing' a camera from the store to shoot some photos because I am the boss and therefore allowed to do such things.

OK comment away!

CONTEST for the Weekend!

If you can ride this from the cash to the front door without a) breaking anything b) hurting yourself I will give you a gold maple leaf necklace!  You are not allowed to sue me if you smash your teeth off and break your neck! You ARE allowed to thank me for showing you a good time though!

In other news, there is a nice big order of hidden animal teacups on their way to the shop right now, so for all of you who have been asking come in next week!  Have a great weekend everyone!
